WHAT IF THE BIBLE COULD SPEAK!!!
If the Bible could speak, what would it say about you? Well, what I mean is, what if the Bible could speak with an audible voice.
I remember reading a story when in my English Language reader when i was in elementary school. the story was about a river that harboured crocodiles. Every day, herds of baboons came to drink from this river without knowing there were crocodiles in it.
And each time they came, the crocodiles would spring from their hiding place in the depths of the river and drag the baboons to their death.
This would go on day after day; week after week and year after year.
The author concluded the story with the quote,”If the river could speak, it would tell the baboons that there were crocodiles in its waters.”
When I look at the landscape of Christianity today and see the many denominations and their many doctrinal interpretations; all purported to have come from the Bible, one if but force to wonder whether they could all have come from it.
Hence the phrase, “If the Bible could speak!” Yes, if the Bible could speak, it would declare hundreds, if not thousands of preachers to be liars and false witnesses. It would call them liars because they claim it said thing that it didn’t say.
If the Bible could speak, would it call you a liar?
How often have you heard people quote the Bible only to go on and draw conclusions which the same Bible disagree with? How many times have we seen terrible things done to fellow believers by other believers who claimed the Bible gave them the authority to do such things?
God expects us to rightly divide the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15. It is our duty to work hard at properly understanding the message of the scriptures so that we are not found wanting in any way.
We should try to be faithful to its message as that is what is expected of a steward. 1 Corinthians 4:2.
The Bible does speak though not in an audible voice. It speaks and we should endeavour to let it speak. We shouldn’t muffle it’s sound with our biased streams of interpretations.
